Lolobee’s is our backyard apiary in Annandale, Virginia, but above all it’s a project I share with my son. Lolo used to be afraid of insects. Getting to know our bees has helped turn that fear into curiosity, confidence, and a real part in the work we do together.

Today, Lolo is an essential part of the operation, helping wherever he can—from making labels for our honey to lending a hand with harvesting and filling jars. Along the way, I’m introducing him to entrepreneurship: how something we care for and create becomes a product we can proudly share with others.

For us, the honey is only part of the reward. Just as meaningful are the time together, the skills he’s learning, and watching him grow into his role in the apiary.
